Gnomeo & Juliet - Miramax Films
I have decided to post a copy of the email I received from the Gentleman in the UK about the upcoming cartoon film - Gnomeo & Juliet. He signed up to post on the Gnome Forum and before I approved his membership — we had a nice email conversation. Below is one of his emails:
“Many thanks for your email.
I am a film and television location manager and at present I am being employed by Miramax Films to do some research for a computer animated feature film entitled ‘Gnomio and Juliet’, an animated twist on the Shakespeare classic.
The producers of the movie have asked me to track down people in the UK who are passionate about gnomes AND gardening and who combine the two. Ideally, they are looking for the weird and wonderful - maybe gardens with mini-rivers and ponds and small bridges, fantastical landscapes which, of course, feature lots of gnomes going about their gnome business. The wilder and wackier, the better. There are a couple of tourist attraction gnome reserves in the UK but the producers are more interested in the personal touch - the sort of thing you’d only find in a gnome fanatic’s garden. They are looking for ideas which they might be able to work into the movie.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
David Seaton
Location Scout / Location Manager”
Hmmm… so he’s looking for some Gnome fanatics eh? And he wants pics that MIRAMAX may be able to work into the movie! Wooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooo! I am all over that! Stay tuned on this topic!

Miramax Gnome Movie
I received a very interesting email from a gentleman claiming to be a Film and Television Location Manager from the UK that has been employed by Miramax Films to do some gnome research. He told me the film, Gnomeo & Juliet, an animated twist on the Shakespeare classic — is scheduled to be out sometime in 2008.
His “mission” is to find “amazing gnome habitats and photograph them from as many angles as possible.” He said the Miramax producers are interested in shots that would be taken from the gnomes point of view — ie; close up and low to the ground.
I want to send him some photos of my gnomescaping — but of course I want to spruce up my gnomescapes before doing so. I invited everyone on the Forum to send David their pictures.
Wouldn’t it be FUN to see our gnomescapes cartoonized on the big screen by Miramax Films? I must do some research on this movie — supposedly the idea for this flick started back in 1996. More details as I find them.
