German Heissner Gnome Arrives!
German Heissner Gnome
Fortunately, my antique Heissner gnome arrived safe and sound today. I just do NOT understand eBay sellers that do not take proper care in packaging sold items! Here we have a valuable (yes valuable) German Heissner gnome and he was sparsley wrapped in a thin layer of bubble wrap! UNBELIEVABLE.
I am very excited about this Gnome. Some Heissner gnomes can be quite frightening looking! Many of them have big red lips — EWWWW. I would pay a cent for one that is ugly. This little guy looks awesome!

However, the luck of the Wee Folk prevailed because he didn’t suffer any damage. He was pretty dirty so I had to clean him up by soaking him in some warm soapy water. He does have a few scratches here and there but that’s because he is old and was displayed outdoors. He is currently living near one of the birdbaths in my Gnome Sanctuary.

Note the wee Bluebird that’s perched on his foot — singing away to the tune of his flute. Absolutely precious this one!

”Gneville” is growing on me….
I think I have pretty much decided that my new gnomie from Virginia will be named Gneville. I chatted a long time on MSN with his creator (Sandy) last night and she sent me some preliminary pictures of him. He is looking rather handsome I must say. She hopes to be able to have him done this week sometime and send him on his journey to my Gnome Sanctuary.
I am getting anxious…. and I pray he has a safe journey. I know how much time and effort Sandy has put into getting him ready for his new home. I hope the USPS is kind and gentle in his handling.
Hey Sandy! Don’t forget to put some holes in the box for him to breathe! (Teehee)

Help Me Gname my Gnome!
When my new Giant Gnomie arrives from Virginia he is going to need a name. I have come up with few cool names. My good friend Nellie from Canada has a travelling gnome she takes on vacation with her. His name is Gnygel. I just LOVE that name and Nellie said I could use it…but alas…there truly can be only ONE Gnygel.
Here is a list of gnames I’ve come up with (see a pattern? LOL)
So far, I am really leaning towards “Gneville” … I think Gneville is a fine gnome name!
Gnimlet
Gnemo
Gnobby
Gnayef
Gneal
Gnehemiah
Gnelson
Gnestor
GNEVILLE
Gnevin
GNEWMAN
Gnewton
GNILES
Gnolan
Gnoland
Gnorbert
Gnorman
Gnorris
Gnorwood
Gnova
Gneville, Gniles or maybe Gnewman…. those are my top three picks? Any suggestions?

Gnome Maker
I’ve been spending so much time working on all my other sites that I have been neglecting the one I love the most. Yes… this one. The one that will probably never make even a dime is my favorite!
A gnome maker from Virginia sent me two new ceramic “Gare” gnomes today. One has a really cool gazing ball and the other is laying down with his head resting on a shroom.
This woman is such an excellent gnome maker! But she just doesn’t have enough hours in the day to run around after three kids (two teens and a middle schooler) with all their activities and such. It’s a wonder she gets anything done! I wish I could go to Virginia and help her paint some gnomes so she can get caught up.
Hopefully she will have my “Big Guy” ceramic gnome done in a few days and on his way to Florida. Then I think I am going to have some type of “Name my Gnew Gnome” contest…
I have a couple of names in mind — but want to see what others come up with. Of course, you gotta see him first to match a gname with a personality. I can’t wait to show him to you. He is about 22 inches tall! How cool is that?

Vintage Heissner #988
I’m happy to report I “snagged” my very first Vintage Heissner #988 Gnome. And he is a cutie! He is sitting on a stump, playing a flute and has a little blue bird sitting on this foot singing. I’ve not seen one like this.

I “sniped” him up in the the last few minutes of an auction I had been watching on eBay. I’ve become rather good at sniping I must say.
Can’t wait to get this little gnome home — so I can take pics of him and post them on the site.
*Picture above was taken of him on his first day at the Sanctuary. He immediately went straight to the birdbath — and played a lovely tune for us.

Thank you Stormwriter…
Gnome Information
I must say I am very excited about the Gnomish information this site has to offer. I worked really hard to make sure the data was accurate and the photo gallery will be a fun place to visit.
A special thank you goes out to my very favorite writer… and you know who you are… without you - none of this would be possible. You have written fabulous gnome articles and have shown me how to find my own creative writing style. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. ![]()
I’m off to take some more pictures of my gnomies…
